The Health: Everyone’s Business training targets Board Lay members so that they become public health ‘champions’ in their current and future roles.

Every Board member in every NHS organization and council needs to take this seriously the focus will continue to be on illness and how to prioritise health resources, rather than focus on promotion of health, prevention of disease and reduction of inequalities.

The style of the sessions is inclusive and interactive, and encourages participants to discover and promote connections between the NHS and the Local Authority and the community

Results Achieved:

The Board had an interesting development session on the importance of health promotion.
The session gave a through overview of the wider determinants of health and the causes of inequality
The session allowed strong group discussion.
Evidence about what works was shared and practical examples of success given
Further work to build health promotion, disease prevention and reduction of inequalities into every contract was agreed

Our experiential approach allows participants to apply their knowledge and skills to a practical piece of work that builds public health capacity within the organization.
These workshops have been run for Boards of Health Authorities and PCTs and local authorities.
