Who we are

The Public Health Action Support Team (PHAST) is a Community Interest Company that can call on over 100 qualified, experienced public health professionals (Associates).  Our Associates provide high quality, innovative, rapid results in consultancy, training, interim staff, and deliver projects related to public health, commissioning, administration and delivery.

The PHAST approach enables us to put together teams with the complementary skill set required for each individual assignment or project.  This approach enable us to keep costs to a minimum by using the optimum mix of junior and senior Associates for different elements of the project.  PHAST assists clients in defining their objectives and matches a team of Associates to deliver them.

All PHAST Associates are experienced and expert public health professionals.  Many have worked at high levels in the NHS, Department of Health or in academia.  Quality assurance and due diligence processes are in place to ensure all Associates work to a high standard.

Service model

PHAST operates on a managed consultancy model.  There is a small core team of directors and project management staff.  The core team ensures consistency of output and methodology, both within and between projects.  Its robust project management and quality assurance ensures projects are delivered to time, quality and budget.  We use transparent methodologies and employ ethicists or seek legal opinion where appropriate.

PHAST is a registered Comunity Interest Company (CIC ) - a type of social enterprise organisation that is committed to using its surpluses and assets for the public good.  Their need to deliver on financial, social and environmental performance targets is often referred to as having a 'triple bottom line'.

Office of the Third Sector definition for a Social Enterprise

A social enterprise is a business with primarily social objectives whose surplusses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.
