What we do
PHAST works with a variety of organisations to improve the health of the population and reduce inequalities. We work innovatively with our clients to provide public health solutions. Our Associates all have many years experience, across all NHS programmes and are able to help with your public health needs.
Using our expertise, we can respond rapidly to the changing needs of public health. The current economic climate is putting increasing stresses on the NHS and other organisations, whose populations may suffer from the very real and direct effects of unemployment, distress and disease. The current flu pandemic is another area where public health skills are paramount. PHAST can, and is helping provide expertise in these areas.
Projects
PHAST delivers public health projects for such diverse organisations as Primary Care Trusts, government departments and voluntary organisations. Timescales range from a few weeks to over a year, depending on the scale. The ability to match appropriate Associates to the expertise required means we deliver high quality, cost effective results. We use evidence based information to ensure that interventions are appropriate and ethical.
We work collaboratively and are building partnership links with academic institutions, public & private public health providers and commissioners.

Training and Education
PHAST organises a wide range of training programmes both for public health professionals and the wider community. It aims to build public health capacity at all levels within the public, private and voluntary sectors. Some courses have been established for some time and are well evaluated by participants. Other courses, including those around world class commissioning are developed to respond to current needs. All courses are evaluated and feedback is incorporated in to future developments.

Interim Public Health staff
There are many reasons organisations require the help of interim staff to fulfill their public health work. Whether it is a particular skill or expertise that is needed, or a response to current needs, we have appropriately experienced Associates who can be called on - often at short notice.
