What is a Social Enterprise company?

Social Enterprises Companies do not make a profit, any surplus goes towards one or more social aims which the business has. PHAST will invest any surplus into the development of new products and working with charities and voluntary organisations. In line with this, PHAST Operational Directors and shareholders receive no dividends for their work in managing PHAST Community Interest Company (CIC).

What is a CIC??

Public Health Action Support Team (PHAST CIC) is a Community Interest Company. This is a new type of Social Enterprise Company that is committed to using its surpluses and assets for the public good. PHAST CIC is regulated by the CIC regulator, based at Companies House, to ensure it fulfils its Social Enterprise objectives.

What is PHAST??

The Public Health Action Support Team (PHAST) provides high quality rapid results. They undertake projects, provide consultancy and interim Public Health staff and organise their own and commissioned training courses and support. Projects and support are delivered by a group of experienced Public Health professionals called Associates.

Why do we need this resource??

There are few public health and management consultancies able to provide responsive support to organisations delivering evidence-based commissioning. PHAST is expert at literature reviews, needs assessment, service review, evaluation, option appraisal and demand management.

What is a managed consultancy model??

PHAST operates on a managed consultancy model. There is a small core team of Operational Directors and project management staff. The PHAST core team will ensure consistency of output and methodology, both within and between projects. It will deliver robust project management and will provide quality assurance to ensure high quality timely outputs and appropriate transparent methodologies. PHAST will employ ethicists or seek legal opinion where appropriate.

How to become a PHAST Associate?

PHAST Associates are all independent consultants who undertake PHAST projects. We are always interested to hear from prospective new Associates. If you are interested in becoming an Associate, please email PHAST.

Are PHAST Associates experienced trainers??

PHAST Associates are all very experienced and have worked at high levels in the NHS, Department of Health or in the academic community.

What does the PHAST training base itself on??

PHAST aims to provide evidence-based value to organisations involved in improving health and commissioning health and social care.

Can we get training within our organisation??

PHAST can deliver its standard training at any organisation. It can also provide bespoke training that fits your specific needs.
Who does PHAST work with?
PHAST works in partnership with Government Departments, National Agencies, Strategic Health Authorities, Primary Care Trusts, Acute Trusts, Mental Health Trusts, Practice Based Commissioning Groups, Local Authorities, Higher Education Institutions and emergency services.
